Mike Ritter is another client who has definitely become a good freind. Mike has left his home in Indiana to go on several hunts with us, but this is the first brown bear he has bagged. For his bear hunt Mike was guided by Daniel Nicolai with Daniel's son along as a packer. Just three weeks prior to this Mike was hunting moose with Gus. Mike Ritter came back with a rifle for this moose after not being able to get close enough in a prior year to a 74 incher with his bow. The big guy just walked out into the middle of a field a stood there, daring Mike to give it a try. This 63 incher was kind enough to be near a river so the pack out wasn't so bad. The hardest part was getting the lifesize cape (400 plus pounds) back to the boat. Mike's son live mounted it for him with his brown bear attacking it. We put three views opf the mount below.
Mike's son, Mike Jr., did an exceptional job mounting his dad's brown bear and moose. There is a large article in "Breakthrough" magazine devoted to his process of mounting this in 19 days to have it ready for us to exhibit at the 2006 Harrisburg, Pennsylvania sport show. This magazine is the trade magazine of taxidemists. I can tell you that the mount was a HUGE success at the sport show.
